Missing Grandmother

I recently received a Perfect Poet Award (Wk n°53) for Remnants.
I humbly accept this award. I in turn wish to nominate Charles for Fragile Cloth.

Thank you to The Poetry Palace for the Perfect Poem Award

Missing Grandmother

my eyes re-read an old post today
searing tears streamed
inner “Me” girl-child cries bitterly
missing loving warmth…

searing tears streamed…
…missing arms… THAT embrace…
…missing loving warmth
from a grandmother eye never knew

…missing arms that embrace…
…soft words that counter fears, missing… wise sayings …
from a grandmother     “I” never knew
the absence of my grandmother

…soft words that counter fears… missing whys, sayings…
left a gaping rip in my soul’s very fabric
…the absence of my grandmother…
from my only photo… proud Cherokee roots stare…

yet of their stories, none are left to share
inner “Me”, girl-child, cries bitterly:
“This isn’t right! No, it’s just not fair!”
my eyes re-read an old post today
