Remnants
15 September 2011
You.
I haven’t had the energy to
wipe away certain memories of you.
Been trying too… Over and over again.
I haven’t had the energy to
drag up the remaining bits.
Been trying to over and over again.
Two who one day became three?
Drag up the remaining bits?
In a way, I’m so glad I never did.
Two, who one day became three…
I would…could… never undo any part of this.
In a way, I’m so glad I never did.
Yes, for look at our son!
I would…could… never undo any part of this.
There’s nothing to be undone!
Yes, for look at our son!
Ah… perfect tribute to what we’ve shared.
There’s nothing to be undone!
No regrets, thus no more need for tears.
Turn pages. Close chapters. Heal…and perhaps
wipe away certain memories of you.
Yes, certain, not all…Know: my heart’s resident is
You.
Note from Emanita01: As part of RoughWaterJohn’s crew, I do get on with following the Cap’n’s, and other crew members ( e.g. Jo’s), trails every now and then.
This time, I was led to Magpie Tales @ http://magpietales.blogspot.com/
Thank you to The Poetry Palace for the Perfect Poem Award

Hi there gautami tripathy. Happy that you appreciated this poem which I timidly posted…and now am very glad that I did. Thanks for dropping in. I’ll be off to your link first thing in the morning 🙂
I wish Jo hadn’t said what she said, because I wanted to be the first to say it. Oh well, I guess even Pirates need to get in line for great poetry. 🙂 Beautifully done Em!
Wow, John, Nice to hear from you 🙂 particularly on this one.
I’m truly humbled by your kind words. Thanks Cap’n ;-D
children do bond parents.
very well penned magpie tale.
🙂
Hello & welcome Morning 🙂
I do agree and don’t agree with your bonding comment.
Do because, well, personnally I just do…LOL!
Don’t becauseI discovered something new: parental jealousy can tear apart the foundations of a relationship. Be it between the parents (as in “I can do THAT better than you”) or unilateral/unidirectional owing to the birth of a child (as in “You no longer pay attention to/care about ME”).
I’m happy you found this was well-penned. Thank you for dropping in 🙂
Touching, bittersweet, beautiful write…

Hi there, Sarah. Thanks you for such kind words!
Especially since, this time, I really “played the game” re: the Magpie Tales’ prompt:
I wrote, reread then posted. (then screamed, silently, “What have I done?”
Usually, I either sit on my poems for awhile or share them with my poet buddies and writers’ groups prior to posting. So your words touch me deeply;
Welcome to my blog 🙂
PS: I’m now off to see yours ;-D
Wow, this was quite a powerful piece on that picture!! I love how you repeated some lines in the next stanza and so forth. It gave the whole thing a very unified feel.
Hey, dragonkatet, welcome 🙂
Glad you felt the power from this one. It’s based on a form of poetry that I learned from our mate Jo called the Pantoum.
A Pantoum poems follows quite specific rules:
The 2nd & 4th lines of the previous stanzas become the 1st & 3rd of the next stanzas. Then, when you are ready to end your poem, the 3rd line from the first stanza becomes the 2nd line in the last stanza, while the 1st line of the first stanza becomes the end line of the last stanza.
This may seem confusing at first, but once your mind gets around these rules, it’s amazing what happens!
But then again, one of my nicknames IS Ms Spock (Star Trekkie me…heh, heh, heh), so maybe that’s why this form appeals to me…LOL!
Thanks bunches for taking time to visit ;-D
A wonderfully formed poem and well said message. Very nice bit of writing!

wow, nicely done… i know the pain felt of the writer. i was married once too but we are now separated due to differences that cannot be compromised between the both of us. but look at our son! he is the perfect tribute to what we shared! thanks for writing this piece!

Julian, this poem was written for the sakes of those like ourselves.
I’m glad you happened across it. 🙂
That makes me truly happy. Thanks for your visit.
PS: I’m sure your son must be as beautiful as the story you once lived with his mom.
indeed he is. though we can’t settle our differences, part of my heart still belongs to her. sadly we cannot make peace anymore as my anger for what she did is heavier than my compassion. anyway, thanks for composing this wonderful piece
“sadly we cannot make peace anymore as my anger for what she did is heavier than my compassion”
I, too, could’ve penned these words Julian.
Makes my appreciation of your appreciation of this poem all the more touching.
Thanks for sharing this energy with me 🙂
sad, well put.
😉
Bittersweet.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts & for your visit.
